A few weekends ago, James and I went to visit my parents. It was the weekend of the Farnham Common quilt show which my mother has entered numerous times. I managed to incentivise James to join me to look around on the Sunday especially as men go free (as they are usually dragged around). However, after dragging him round he became somewhat surprised at how impressive the quilts really were. Here are a selection of photos of the quilts, including my mothers (the first one). She has quilted since I can remember and it is such a lovely thing to be talented in, I have three lovely quilts which all have memories.
My first quilt was pastel colours, one to use in the garden and I used to lie on it on the grass revising for my GCSEs’. My second was made from fabric from my travels to India when I was 17. This quilt was such vibrant colours and was backed with a sari I bought in Jaisalmer, it folds into a cushion which I used to keep in the back of my car. My third and most recent quilt was made from fabric I bought in Thailand and Vietnam, it is beautiful rich silks so quite delicate. I love them all equally, although only have two of them in my current house due to space. On top of my quilts, my mum has made me a Quilted Cath Kidston fabric Kindle cover and also a Cath Kidston Oyster card holder. She is one very talented Mummy! If you are interested in some of her quilts, she sells them on Ebay
